Welcome to Aztlan! Since we started business we’ve been dedicated to creating unique, story driven and eye-catching visual media. With a focus on music/dance videos, in-studio photo shoots, and brand promotion we strive to provide a final product that will help you stand out from the crowd!
The Story of Aztlan
Much like the unexpected blending of peoples across Latin America our two founders, Alec Ballesteros (Xicano) and Shajira Wright (Afro-Panamanian and Puerto Rican), came together unexpectedly to form a partnership, a family, a business, and a purpose. After a chance meeting as neighbors in New Orleans and a brief period of separation the two reunited in Atlanta. Soon came the birth of their wonderful daughter and one other amazing creation. The idea of Aztlan Studios. A place to tell the stories yet told and share experiences that most are unaware of.
Traditionally, Aztlan refers to the sacred homeland of the Mexica people, also known as the Aztec. In the modern era, Aztlan has becoming a rallying cry for Mexican Americans (or Xicanos/Chicanos). It refers to the US states that once belonged to the country of Mexico and the fact that we never left those states after they became the US. As a Xicano and Afro-Latina led company we draw from our respective Indigenous and African heritage to guide and inspire our story and mission.
Much like the Mexica people coming out of the Seven Sacred Caves our logo is based on we believe the most interesting stories come from the most unexpected places. Since our founding we have striven to tell the untold stories and we continue to do that through seeking out diverse experiences. Welcoming everyone to bring their true self to our loving and welcoming space.
What We Offer
Located right out side the ATL, our services are available for Atlanta, Southern, and South Eastern-based music videos, brand promotion, stylized photo shoot, concert, car-show, charity or charity event. Gladly capturing family memories from quinceañeras and birthday parties, to maternity and family photos, reunions, graduations, prom send offs, or any other special moment.
We offer both our photograph and video services for the production of short films, commercials, web series, podcasts, and vlogs. Come us our dedicated intimate studio space or we can come to you. If you have any questions or to book you date, please contact us though our contact form.
